Back-to-School Prayers for Kids

Hi sweet friend,

As the school year begins, many of us are gathering new supplies, packing lunches, and making schedules. But even more important than all those preparations is covering our children in prayer.

When we send them off to classrooms, car lines, or study tables at home, we can send them with confidence that God’s Word goes with them.

This coming week, let’s focus on three short, Scripture-based prayers to lift over our children each day as they step into this new season.

📖 Bible Study Tip of the Week:

When life gets busy with school routines, try using short passages of Scripture in your daily study. Even just one verse written on a sticky note or saved as your phone’s background can keep God’s Word in front of you all day. Consistency matters—God can use even five minutes of focused time in His Word to strengthen your heart.

Kids' Corner:

This coming week, let’s talk about three simple back-to-school prayers you can teach your children. Encourage them to pray these out loud before leaving home each day:

  1. For Wisdom – “Lord, help me to be wise today. ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom’ (Proverbs 9:10).”
  2. For Courage – “Lord, help me be brave. ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go’ (Joshua 1:9).”
  3. For Kindness – “Lord, help me be kind to others. ‘Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you’ (Ephesians 4:32).”

🙏 Family Faith Focus:

This coming week, gather around the table one evening and pray for your children’s teachers, classmates, and school staff. Ask each family member to pick one person they can pray for by name. End by asking the Lord to fill your home with His peace during the busy school season.

✨ Just for You:

Mama, remember this: God sees your efforts to prepare your children for the school year, but more than that, He sees your heart. He knows your worries, your hopes, and your prayers.

Rest in the truth that Jesus cares deeply for your children even more than you do. When you feel overwhelmed, remember His invitation: “Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
